Osteopathy at Twin Rivers Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for nerve, muscle and joint problems – which compliments mainstream modern medicine.

At Twin Rivers Osteopathy our treatments are suitable for almost every one and aims to improve the function of body by using gentle and effective non-invasive, hands-on manual therapy techniques to diagnose, treat and prevent problems originating in the muscle or joints of a persons body.

Joint manipulation, soft tissue massage, and rehabilitation exercises are used to achieve the best results for patients choosing osteopathy.

All Osteopaths in Australia train for 5 years and must be registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Osteopathy Australia (OA). No GP referral required.

Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds, and the Medicare (Chronic Disease Management) Scheme. We also take NDIS Age Care Packages.

What to Expect

When you visit an osteopath for the first time, it’s normal to feel a bit nervous if you’re unsure of what to expect.

We offer on-site parking at the rear of the building. Please enter and have a seat in our waiting area. At the moment, we do not have a receptionist. Your osteopath will personally greet you when it is your scheduled time.

During your initial consultation, your osteopath will ask you some questions about your medical health, whilst taking the time to listen to your story to understand the circumstances that led to your pain or injury. Your osteopath will also enquire about your general health, lifestyle and goals to better assist you in returning to the activities you enjoy.

The following step is to identify the root cause of your symptoms by evaluating your body’s movement and functionality. In order to have a clearer view of your posture and muscle assessment, it is often necessary to dress down to your underwear. We suggest bringing a pair of shorts with you to your appointment to ensure your comfort.

We understand that is overwhelming to dress down but we always maintain professionalism and keep you warm and comfortable on the treatment table covering you with towels and heating.

Your osteopath will treat with massage, joint mobilisation, dry needling and explain throughout what is going on. We place a strong emphasis on evidence-based treatment programs, ensuring that our practitioners stay up to date with the latest research articles and apply those findings to your treatment plan. We also invest in the newest and most appropriate technology and equipment to provide you with the most modern and effective treatments available.

Your Osteopath may recommend pairing your treatment plan with an in-person rehabilitation exercise plan with a complimentary practitioner, or they may provide you with an at-home program to suit your needs. Rest assured, your Osteopath will ensure that you have a comprehensive plan of recovery.

After the treatment, we will collect your payment in the treatment room. We suggest scheduling a follow-up treatment one week later to evaluate your progress from the initial consultation.

In some cases, patients may choose to engage in an on-going maintenance treatment plan of a 6 ,8 or 10 week interval as part of a proactively healthy lifestyle.
